The DFW2017 Committee conducted pre-survey for DFW2017 fieldwork in rural area of Toyota City on March 7, 2017.

Four OFW2016 Working Groups made final presentations on their findings of OFW fieldwork in Rizal, Laguna, The Philippines.
From Oct. 12 to 14, 2o16, three DFW2o16 working groups conducted fieldwork in Asahi area of Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
From Sept.18 to Oct.2, 2016, we conducted OFW2016 fieldwork in Rizal, Laguna Province, The Philippines collaborated with College of Public Affairs and Development, University of the Philippines Los Banos and Government of Municipality of Rizal, Laguna Province, The Philippines.

In the last session of DFW2016 Preparatory Sessions, we were pleased to have Dr. Masao Takano from Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University to talk about Satoyama system and its change with people in Japan. After the seesion, participants raised many questions to Prof. Takano. We hope this session could help our students further understand the situation of rural Japan.

Time flies. Finally we were very pleased to invite Prof. Hoshino and Prof. Sakai as guest speakers to talk about risk management as the last session of OFW2016 preparatory session. Dr. Aser and Prof. Okada also gave instruction about risk management and health maintenance in this session.

In today’s seminar, we are pleased to invite two speakers to introduce survey method based on their own experiences. Prof. Okada briefly introduced us the bacis thinking and logic of quantitative research in the first half of the seminar. In the second half, we had Mr. Ben Huffman, D2 students in DICOS, to share his research experience in conducting quantitative survey and fieldworks in the Philippines and Cambodia.
Even this is no team which plans to conduct quantitative suvery in OFW or DFW, we hope our participants can at least get some ideas about quantitative research and the methods. For sure, it is useful and beneficial for all!
